Since spring 2004, Jenzat, a town of almost 500 inhabitants, has counted a new association called FESTI'VIELLE JENZAT, being the eighth. Its goal is to celebrate the vielle and the stringed-instruments makers of JENZAT. ln 2005, year of the hundredth anniversary of Gilbert PIMPARD 's death, a stringed-instruments maker, our association organized during the weekend of the 15th of August 2005 an event of which the central theme will be this maker of vielle.
FESTI'VIELLE JENZAT is in relation on one hand with the association "Friends of the Vielle" and its ethnomusicologist Jean François CHASSAING, who manages the house of the stringed--instruments maker (Maison du Luthier) and on the other hand with Jean Claude BOUDET, current stringed-instruments maker, who perpetuates the tradition in our town.
A restaurant called "Auberge du Luthier' has recently opened, facing the sculpture of a vielle financed by souscription in 1995.
FESTI'VIELLE JENZAT has in its rows, a number of persons taking action in the local events committee which organizes on the first weekend of April, a plant fair, and on the second weekend of November, a tree fair, these two demonstrations attract between 5000 and 6000 visitors each year.
FESTI'VIELLE JENZAT, association of a historic town reknown for its stringed-instrument makinq patrimony where the streets carry the name of the vielle makers that lived and worked there, the village wish to perpetuate its tradition and also to promote its current activity.
